About Us
Come Together Lake Country formed as a group of individuals troubled by the divisiveness in our country and our community. We realized that despite our differences, we had similar beliefs.
We are concerned that our school boards and municipal boards are becoming less connected to our community and more influenced by political parties.
We understand that individuals have political beliefs and affiliations. That’s OK. In fact, we think it is great for citizens to be involved in the political process.
We believe when a political party vets and selects a candidate, and puts sums of money behind their campaign, there is a quid pro quo attached.
We prefer nonpartisan governing boards to be responsive to the needs of the stakeholders: the students, parents, staff, and residents of the district or municipality.
Come Together is a party-neutral organization that does not accept support from any political party. Some of our supporters are Republicans, some are Democrats, and some don’t fit neatly in any major political party. Our goal is to provide a forum where information and ideas can be exchanged without regard to party labels or agendas. We believe that when we have civil discourse about local issues, our common interests outweigh any political divide. We believe we are better when we Come Together.
